RANAU LAKE

 



Ranau Lake is the second largest lake in Sumatra. The lake is formed by a great earthquake and volcanic eruptions. A large river which previously flowed at the foot of the volcanic mountain turned into a chasm. Various types of plants including shrubs that are locally known as Ranau, growing on the edge of the lake and the remains of the mountain became Mount Seminung, which stands towering beside the lake which has this clean water.

The lake is located on the border between West Lampung in Lampung Province and
South Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) in South Sumatra. This lake has a cold weather. To enter this lake, visitors have to pay 1,000.00 per person plus Rp4.000,00 for parking.

Marisa island located in the middle of the lake. Have natural hot springs. The island also has waterfalls and vast rice fields, and most of the land is covered by forest and inhabited by some primates.
